- Vehicle Break-In Alert: Residents should be aware that there have been numerous car break-ins throughout Derby. While one arrest has been made, we are still investigating these incidents. Please be sure to properly secure all personal property and do not keep valuable items in your vehicle unattended. Residents should contact the department to report suspicious activity. If you have any information regarding these break-ins, please contact our Detective Bureau at 203-735-7811.
- Scam Alert: Residents should be aware of a "distraction" scam that is occurring in area towns. The scam involves elderly people being lured out of their homes under the guise of the suspect's offering free landscaping / tree-trimming. Once out of the home, a second suspect burglarizes the residence. All residents should be cautious of anyone asking you to exit your home to discuss offered services. Please report any suspicious activity to the police department at 203-735-7811.
